In the spring of 2023, following its acclaimed, sold-out 2022 engagement, Ruth Stage was granted an unprecedented six-week extension to bring Cat on a Hot Tin Roof back Off-Broadway - a rare vote of confidence from the Tennessee Williams Estate. What began as a bold gamble, reshaping much of the cast while preserving the production’s combustible core, paid off in spades, with many declaring the return engagement even more daring, refined, and electrifying than the history-making summer run. Directed once again by Joe Rosario, the revival burned hotter, sharper, and more assured, deepening its excavation of repression, desire, and inheritance inside the Pollitt family.

Courtney Henggeler, known for Cobra Kai, made her New York stage debut as a sexually charged, ferocious Maggie the Cat, earning widespread praise for a performance that was at once virile, magnetic, and simmering with raw desire. Fred Weller, Drama Desk Award winner, joined the cast as a formidable Big Daddy, while Matt de Rogatis and Alison Fraser returned as Brick and Big Mama, bringing renewed depth and volatility to roles they had already made indelible. 

With expanded television coverage, additional Times Square billboards, and a fresh wave of critical response, the spring production proved even bigger and more incendiary than before - cementing Ruth Stage’s reputation as a fearless, maverick theater company capable of redefining American classics with both audacity and artistic blessing.
